Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of PlayAirHockey.com (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Service comes in two forms, and they do not work the same way:

  • The website at playairhockey.com: a free, browser-based air hockey game playable against a computer opponent or another player online. It is free of charge and requires no account.
  • The Android app, Play Air Hockey, on Google Play. It is free to download and free to play, requires an account (section 3), shows advertising, and offers optional purchases (sections 5 and 6).

2. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use offensive, harassing, hateful or impersonating display names
  • Attempt to cheat, exploit bugs, or modify the game client to gain an unfair advantage
  • Use bots, scripts or automation to interact with the matchmaking system
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to our infrastructure
  • Scrape, reverse engineer or redistribute the Service or its assets
  • Obtain coins or items by any means other than playing or buying them, including exploiting a bug, tampering with the client, or forging a purchase receipt
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

We may block access to anyone who violates these rules, without notice, and may remove coins or items obtained in breach of them.

3. Accounts

The website has no accounts. Your nickname, difficulty preference and match history are stored in your browser only. Clearing your browser data erases them permanently, and we cannot recover them.

The Android app requires an account, created by signing in with Google; there is no guest mode. You are responsible for the security of the Google account you sign in with. One account carries your coins, your items and your match record, and the same account is shared with our other game, Play Snake Online, so coins and an Aura plan work across both.

You may delete your account at any time, see Delete Your Account. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms.

4. Online Matches

Online play depends on third-party realtime infrastructure and on your own network. We do not guarantee that a match will be found, that a match will complete without interruption, or that latency will be suitable for competitive play. Matches ended by an opponent disconnecting are resolved in favour of the remaining player.

5. Coins and Items (Android app)

Coins are an in-game currency. You earn them by playing, and you may also buy them. Coins are used to rent cosmetic items (tables, pucks and paddles) for a limited time, after which the rental expires and the item must be rented again.

  • Coins and items have no monetary value, are not your property, and cannot be sold, transferred, traded or exchanged for money.
  • They are a limited, personal, revocable licence to use a feature of the game, and they end when your account ends.
  • Cosmetic items affect appearance only. They confer no advantage in play.
  • We may change prices, rental durations, earn rates and the catalogue. Changes are not retrospective: a rental you have already paid for runs to its end on the terms you bought it under.
  • If the Service is discontinued, unspent coins and unexpired rentals end with it. Where the law of your country requires a refund in that situation, we will honour it.

6. Purchases and the Aura subscription (Android app)

Coin packs and Aura are sold through Google Play Billing. Google is the merchant of record; the payment is a transaction between you and Google, and Google's own terms apply to it alongside these. Prices shown in the app are inclusive of tax where required and are set per country by Google.

  • Coin packs are one-time purchases. Coins are credited to your account once Google confirms the payment.
  • Aura is an auto-renewing monthly subscription. It renews each month at the then-current price until cancelled. While it is active it grants double coins on every match, no advertising, 40% off every rental, and access to items reserved for members.
  • Cancelling: cancel in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it separately.
  • When Aura ends, members-only items stop being equippable and the discount and double-coin rate stop. Coins already earned are yours to keep.
  • Refunds are handled by Google under the Google Play refund policy. Contact Google Play support first. Nothing here limits refund or cancellation rights you have under the consumer law of your own country.

7. Advertising (Android app)

The free version of the app is funded by advertising, served by Google AdMob. Some rewards are offered in exchange for watching a video. We do not control which ads Google serves. 8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its code, design, graphics and branding, is owned by PlayAirHockey.com and protected by intellectual property law. You may play the game; you may not copy, distribute or create derivative works from it without permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlayAirHockey.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers for hosting, realtime networking, authentication, payments, advertising and analytics. Your use of the Service is also subject to their terms. See our Privacy Policy for the list.

12. Children

The website is intended for a general audience. The Android app is rated and targeted at 13 and over. See our COPPA notice for information relevant to children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, do not make a purchase without the permission of the person who pays the bill.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change, and continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance.
